Emma’s Heart

From the age of three, Emma, our youngest grandchild, has actively shown the love of Christ in her heart; not anything she knew she was doing, but wherever she was, with Jerry and me, and especially with Mother. Emma was three years old; Mother was ninety-one, with dementia, living with us over four years. At the same time, we also cared for Emma and Olivia, our next oldest grandchild two days a week.

This week, at the age of fifteen, Emma is in Haiti, with a mission group from her church.

Mother was there with her church thirty years ago.

Dear Father in heaven, Thank you for grace beyond measure to us as your children, putting within our hearts the love of Christ, which is the ministry you give us to share with others. We ask you to bless those who live in this love and desire to minister to others in His name. Thank you for loving us and filling us so that it spills over wherever we are. Use your Word through these to draw others to Christ. Bless the young who minister in His name this summer, for your glory and their joy. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

ABOUT (2016)

During the past twenty years that Jerry and I have lived here in Buford, Georgia we have been caregivers for four of our grandchildren, and four and a half years we cared for my mother who had Alzheimer’s disease. Only a month after her death, in 2006, Jerry had emergency bypass surgery on his leg because of a blood clot. Then, a month later, due to the failure of the bypass to produce blood flow, his leg had to be amputated.

That was ten years ago, during which time we spent three years waiting for healing; then had a third surgery to remove the graft that was put in during the first surgery.

There has been much to write during the past twenty-five years about God’s grace and goodness to us.

The overflow of His grace has not ceased, nor slowed, but continues for His glory and our joy. We have learned to see all of life under the mighty hand of God, our Father, through His Son, Jesus Christ, and to look with anticipation to all that He has planned for us. From our secluded habitat, He continues to teach us and has basically made us a three-legged sermon to others, through the media of blogging and just recently, the publication of our books.

We venture no further from home than to buy the things that we need weekly, and to attend church services on the Lord’s Day. Our home located on a short cul-de-sac street has become a haven, somewhat like the lagoon in the image of the header of this blog. We are content living in this little inlet, from which we are able to broadcast the news of what the Lord continues to reveal to us.

Ocean sliderGod’s Grace ~ God’s Glory is a spring where we live. From here there is an ocean, which image is a background for this blog, and the connection to our website, Father and Family Books. There we are, through faith and prayer and our books,  proclaiming the legacy of God’s kingdom, that the truth of His kingdom may spread to the end of the earth, even as Jesus spoke these words in Acts 1:8 to His disciples. With technology, God gives us the means of reaching as far as He has planned for His work through us.

Some of our books are gifts as free eBooks and some are for sale as eBooks and paperback. I especially encourage you to read The Garden of GOD’S WORD ~ The Purpose and Delight of BIBLE STUDY.  From the outline to publication, this is a sixteen-year working of God through my own heart and life.

Ninety percent of profit from sales of our books will be donated to missions and charity.

As a reader and child of God, you have the opportunity to share His legacy with your prayers and your purchases. Please join us in this venture for His kingdom.

Father, I pray that you will bring others to see and share this work for your glory. Open hearts to engage with others of your family and Christian writers who are spreading the good news of life in Christ and the reality of your kingdom here on earth. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.

If God Brings You To It ~

Screen Shot 2016-06-22 at 7.21.44 AMThe week before Jerry’s heart attack on December 28, this thought, “If He brings you to it, He will bring you through it” was brought to mind. It was not until after a week in the hospital, and recovering at home, that it surfaced again. Not only through that trauma, but also with God’s continual presence in these last five months, this truth is evident ~ If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

Before and during Jerry’s hospital stay, the Lord was bringing me to see how we could publish four of my books. At first, we planned to do eBooks, but since beginning this project, we are doing these in print also. The Lord has led me through the process of drafting these books for publication as soon as we have finished building our website.

Father and Family Books ~ Proclaiming the Legacy of God’s Kingdom will be a station from which we will share what He has been giving me for the past twenty-five years. This legacy is meant for all of His family, and through His leading, we will share what He continues to teach me.

It is a joy, at the age of 77, to still be learning ~ in my second childhood, so to speak. And concerning God and His kingdom, we will be learning through eternity.

Even though sequestered, as Jerry’s caregiver, there is nothing to prevent the reality of Jesus’ last words to His disciples before He ascended back to the Father. In Acts 1:8, He said, “You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

At first, we had thought to share these at no cost, but now we understand that we are to offer these at a reasonable price, and designate the profit for missions. This will establish a community of God’s people to be a part of this venture for His kingdom. The first eBook is free; from our website. FIRST THINGS That Last FOREVER is to share what we are about and to encourage those who are disciples of Christ to know the unsearchable riches that we have in Him. A second book TWO FULL PLATES ~ Learning to be a Caregiver is free when you subscribe to our monthly newsletter.

In the next few weeks, we will post information about our progress. In the meantime, we will share something about the four books that will be published. (Update on September 6, published these five books on August 2.  Now available.)

If you are on Facebook you can find Father and Family Books there.
